Manga Review: Naruto 587

SPOILER ALERT!!! This review of Naruto 587 contains spoilers! If you haven't read the new chapter click HERE!

This chapter of Naruto was... boring. Other than some pathos appeal we really don't get anything except for a long explanation on the difference between Izanami and Izanagi (which you can read for yourselves cause I'm NOT summarizing that confusing shit).

In the last chapter Itachi trapped Kabuto in Izanami, a kinjustsu that creates an infinite loop. In this chapter we get a long drawn out explanation of how Izanami and Izanagi differ from each other. Itachi explains that the point of Izanami being created was so that Uchiha's who could use Izanagi wouldn't become arrogant and boast that they're perfect. He explains that he used to believe he was perfect, that he didn't have to rely on anyone's strength, but realized his mistakes and died before he could correct them. Of course Sasuke insist that Itachi was perfect (I swear, this Anicom* he has is just...) but Itachi poses an interesting perspective.

He tells Sasuke, "Look at me. I want you to find what I didn't have." When you think about it Itachi didn't really have a lot. Yes he was genius, a prodigy, a talented shinobi, however, from what we know about him, he was estranged from his family and his clan, he didn't have many friends, he never experienced love (although "Tobi" hinted that he killed his gf, but I refuse to don't believe he had one), basically he didn't have any strong connections or bonds. He lied to the people who supposedly cared about him in order to make himself a better shinobi, even admitting to using a technique on Sasuke to control him.

However before Itachi himself could explain all of what he didn't have, the scene cuts to Kabuto still going through the cycle of Izanami. He's terribly frustrated and can't figure out how to get out of it, wondering what exactly it is that Itachi want's him to realize. Then we cut to another scene where there are two shinobi sitting and talking about what they'll do after the war. We find out that one of them is Urushi, Kabuto's brash "older brother" from the orphanage. Urushi has not given up on Kabuto, believing that after the war he'll come home. Then it cuts back to Sasuke and Itachi and ends with Itachi about to stop the Edo Tensei.

This chapter, to me, made Kabuto a little more human. Even though Kabuto has been annoying the shit out of me lately, Itachi believes that there is still some humanity left in him and gives him the chance to overcome his desires to be perfect and acknowledge his mistakes. Then there's also Kabuto's orphanage family, that he's pretty much forgotten about and cast aside, that still believes he'll come home. I guess it just gives me a little hope for him and what he'll have when the war is over.

How do you guys feel about this chapter? What do you think will happen with Kabuto? And now that they've successfully detained him, what do you think Itachi and Sasuke will talk about? Post a comment and let me know!

Here's to hoping the next chapter will go back to Naruto's fight!! [fingers crossed!]
